Wade's All-Star Weekend - 2011

As part of the 2011 All-Star Weekend, Dwyane and the Wade's World Foundation collaborated with MLA Partner Schools of Los Angeles. MLA's mission to radically shift the education, health and social outcomes for thousands of youth in South Los Angeles was something Dwyane felt important to carry through. Believing in similar goals as Wade's World Foundation, together they set out to make a difference. They began on Thursday afternoon, by hosting over 100 women at the Manual Arts School. There Wade unveiled a brand new basketball court for the women. The overhaul included the installation of new flooring, backboards, scoreboards and lighting. All of the women attending were over joyed with sincere appreciation for this new remodel. In addition to the court unveil Dwyane provided the opportunity for 50 of the women to attend the Rookie All-Star basketball game that Friday night.

Following these events Dwyane hosted his 4th Annual All-Star Luncheon, sponsored by Apollo Jets, at the Montage Beverly Hills. This year the luncheon was co-hosted with Frank Marshall of the Kennedy/Marshall Company. Together they raised additional money for the MLA Partner Schools. The afternoon was hosted by Sherri Shepard, with a special performance by John Legend. Wade and friends were joined by Steve Harvey, Jordin Sparks, Russell Simmons, Gabrielle Union, Nicole Murphy, Michael Strahan, Alonzo Mourning, Pat Riley, Bernard Hopkins, and Fabolous.
