Staples Dream Park ChallengeWith D-Wade $25,000 Grand Prize
Goes to City Hall Park
Promotion Inspired 14 South Florida Communities to Cast More Than 200,000 Votes

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. April 13, 2007 - Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) and Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade today announced that City Hall Park is the winner of the Staples Dream Park Challenge with D-Wade. Neighbors and users of City Hall Park, located at 1900 NW 55th Avenue in Lauderhill, Fla., cast more than 110,000 votes during the online contest to earn the park a $25,000 makeover. Dwyane Wade and Staples will celebrate the park?s win following the NBA season.

The level of participation shows how much local residents appreciate the importance of having usable parks for South Florida's kids and families,? said Wade. It is great to see so many people get involved in improving their community. I would like to congratulate City Hall Park and their supporters for their tremendous efforts.

The Staples Dream Park Challenge with D-Wade is a park improvement initiative that was open to 14 parks located near Staples stores in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. The Challenge launched on February 15 and ended April 12. Staples invited residents to vote for their favorite park at www.StaplesDreamPark.com. City Hall Park, as the park with the most votes, will receive $25,000 while the other 13 parks will receive $2,500 each. The community response was impressive with approximately 250,000 votes cast. Residents could vote once per day or pick up ?power cards? at Staples stores throughout South Florida to obtain 10 extra on-line votes.

All people who voted in the Staples Dream Park Challenge with D-Wade are automatically entered to win one of ten special prizes, either one of five autographed Dwyane Wade jerseys or one of five spots to meet South Florida's star basketball player. The D-Wade special prize winners will be announced at a later date.

We are grateful that Dwyane Wade and Staples teamed up to bring communities together and donate much needed funds to our parks.

Staples continues to demonstrate its commitment to South Florida by supporting in grassroots community organizations near its stores. Since its first local store opening, Staples and its charitable arm, Staples Foundation for Learning, have donated $180,000 to educational non-profit organizations in the area. Each South Florida store location has adopted a local non-profit partner by contributing funds or providing much-needed support, such as office product donations.
