April 13, 2007 Staples Dream Park ChallengeWith D-Wade $25,000 Grand Prize The Staples Dream Park Challenge with D-Wade is a park improvement initiative that was open to 14 parks located near Staples stores in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. The Challenge launched on February 15 and ended April 12. Staples invited residents to vote for their favorite park at www.StaplesDreamPark.com. City Hall Park, as the park with the most votes, will receive $25,000 while the other 13 parks will receive $2,500 each. The community response was impressive with approximately 250,000 votes cast. Residents could vote once per day or pick up ?power cards? at Staples stores throughout South Florida to obtain 10 extra on-line votes. The benefits of a community park are countless. A great park brings families together, gives kids a place to play and bolsters neighborhood pride,? says Royce Reed, regional vice president of Staples. Staples Dream Park Challenge allows us to make our neighborhoods a better place for our customers and our associates.? Staples continues to demonstrate its commitment to South Florida by supporting in grassroots community organizations near its stores. Since its first local store opening, Staples and its charitable arm, Staples Foundation for Learning, have donated $180,000 to educational non-profit organizations in the area. Each South Florida store location has adopted a local non-profit partner by contributing funds or providing much-needed support, such as office product donations. |
